I am all stocked up on dog cookies!! Thank you to some very awesome helpers! As you all know your furry friend will get a small bag with every Spaw day but they are also available for purchase-25 cookies for $5).
I did just want to touch on a few things with the nice weather being here now!
Fleas...horrible awful creatures they are! It is the season. Sarah's Doggie Day Spaw is a flea free facility. I ask that if you notice fleas on your pet you have them treated and postpone your grooming appointment until they are under control. Likewise there is always a chance that a dog with fleas may come in one day I HIGHLY recommend that your pet be on a flea prevention from your vet (such as advantage). If a dog is found to have fleas they will immediately get a flea bath and be separated from the other dogs here for their Spaw day, there will be a $20 fee added to the cost of your groom to offset the cost of the flea bath and treating the room at the end of the day. I also inform all other dogs owners of the fleas to make you aware, but prevention is your best defense against the little trouble makers.
It is also the time of year that dogs start coming in for their spring/summer shave downs. Sometimes not having been groomed all winter. Matted coats are uncomfortable for the dogs and difficult to remove safely. Because of be extra work involved and the extra wear and tear on my equipment there will be an extra charge of at least $10 added to the cost of the groom depending on the size of the dog and the severity of the matting. It is in your pets best interest to set up a regular grooming schedule and to brush/comb at home as well (just as you would your own hair). I'm happy to show you the type of brush and comb you should be using for your dogs specific coat type! Just ask :)
