2021 has definitely so far had its own character. American politics, pandemic lockdowns and a boil water advisory in Bracebridge - what's next? The one thing that seems somewhat predictable is the Muskoka real estate market. We know there currently is and will be very low inventory throughout the District. We know there are more buyers in the market than there are houses and cottages to sell, and we know this will continue to drive prices up throughout 2021. Finding deals will be difficult, with most properties selling in competition for over list price.
Now, more than ever, buyers need a real estate agent working with them. If you're not in the loop, or up-to-date on new listings, you will miss out on opportunities. Being the first to know is an advantage that can't be understated.
If you're interested in buying or selling, or just want to chat real estate, remember I am only a phone call or email away and available to talk 7 days a week. I look forward to hearing from you and always appreciate your referrals. |

A Winter's Drive in Muskoka
“It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.” American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson’s words had little to do with a winter’s drive through Muskoka, or maybe they did. Like any great pastime, a driving journey past frozen lakes and parks and villages under blankets of snow may well be about the experience rather than the destination. We’re not trying to reach Port Carling, or Rosseau, or Huntsville, or Bracebridge—though all of those destinations are worthy. The point is the journey.
What we see along these pathways is one of the reasons we choose to live in cottage country. Winter driving routes lead in all directions, twisting through the highlands of Huntsville, the farmlands near Bracebridge, and along the shorelines of Gravenhurst and Port Carling. Here are three winter routes I’ve driven often, both for my work as a realtor and for simple pleasure—passing time during this pandemic. These routes mix highway driving with slow meanders along country roads. You can drive an entire route in a single day, or carve a route into bits, savouring sections one day at a time. The key to a winter’s drive is taking time to look around rather than racing toward the finish line. As Emerson said: “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.”

Canada 2021 Housing Forecasts Call For A Boom ... Or The Worst Crash in 40 Years
Amid an unpredictable pandemic, forecasts for the housing market are pretty much all over the map.
This could be the toughest year in living memory to make predictions about the economy ? especially the housing market.
Amid the worst economic slowdown in decades, home sales and prices soared in many Canadian cities in 2020, along with housing markets in many other countries. The average house price in Canada has shot up by 13.8 per cent over the past year, and by 14.6 per cent in the U.S.
No wonder this year’s batch of year-end forecasts for Canada’s housing market are all over the map. From predictions of rapid price growth and housing shortages to warnings of a market crash, there’s a forecast out there for every taste. Which, admittedly, isn’t very helpful.
Broadly speaking, there are two camps: Those who see this year’s hot housing conditions continuing into next year, thanks to low mortgage rates and a lack of housing supply, and those who see trouble coming once mortgage deferrals and government income supports stop. |
