Does your Roof have a dangerous amount of snow or ice on it?
Do you fear your roof will cave in and cause damage to your home structure and interior?
Should I worry about snow on my roof?
Over time, heavy snow can weaken the structural integrity of a roof. Roofs made of lightweight materials, roofs that have little support, and roofs that are flat are most at risk for collapse. Attics that are not well-ventilated can contribute to the problem by causing snow to melt and turn into ice.
Eventually, when the weight of the snow is greater than the carrying capacity of your roof, the roof collapses and causes damage to the interior walls of your home. If your roof isn't properly sealed, the snow can begin to seep into cracks and run down the walls of your house. This can result in thousands of dollars of damage.
HOW SNOW CAN HARM YOUR ROOF?
Accumulation can overload the roof: Snow deposits increase the chances of roof collapse. Other problems they can cause include structural damage, which is capable enough of creating safety hazards.
Ice dams can affect the home, gutters, and roof: Hanging icicles are not praiseworthy. A sign of an ice dam, they invite damage to the gutters, and shingles, open cracks in the roof, and increase the possibility of leakage.
Melting snow can cause a flood: A rise in temperature melts the accumulated snow and it can leak through the small cracks, thus damaging the walls and flooding the basement. This problem is not easy to deal with and repeats itself when the snow freezes and melts again & again.
You may want to consider a snow-melting installation system.
