Having your pet examined at least once a year is a great way to stay proactive about their health, but a physical exam can only detect a limited number of conditions. That's why veterinarians often rely on advanced diagnostics for an internal examination. Orillia Pet Hospital is equipped with several diagnostic capabilities to get a glimpse â??below the surface,â?? allowing us to better diagnose and treat medical conditions before they become serious. Just as with every other service we provide, your pet's safety and well-being are our #1 priority. With our diagnostic services, our goal is to treat illnesses, injuries, and other conditions as quickly and effectively as possible. These services are listed and explained below.
Pet X-Rays (Radiography)
X-ray technology allows us to examine your pet internally to detect fractures, foreign bodies, and other conditions. With our digital dental X-ray technology, we can view below your pet's gum line to detect gum disease and other oral problems. In some cases, an X-ray exam can be combined with an ultrasound exam for the most accurate diagnosis.
Complete In-House Laboratory Testing
With our convenient in-house laboratory, we can perform several tests, including blood work, urinalyses, fecal tests, in a timely manner. These tests are necessary in the diagnosis of diabetes, parasites, and other conditions. The sooner we can make an accurate diagnosis, the sooner we can develop a treatment plan.
Pet Ultrasound
Ultrasound technology allows us to view your pet internally in real time by using the echoes of sound waves. These echoes create a 3D image of the targeted area of your pet's body. We offer this service via a traveling veterinary ultrasound technician by appointment only.
Endoscopy
An endoscopic exam involves examining your pet's esophagus, stomach, and upper intestines non-invasively using a device called a flexible fiber-optic endoscope. This device is inserted into the body through tiny incisions on the body.
Regardless of your pet's symptoms, our advanced diagnostic tools will help us treat them quickly and have your pet feeling back to normal again as soon as possible. If you need to schedule X-rays for your pet in Orillia, or any other diagnostic exam, give us a call at (705) 325-4224.
