I'd like to introduce you to the great local not for profit that Muskoka Laughs and the Muskoka Laughs Market are supporting: Cottage Paws Rescue.
I have the privilege of raising money and awareness for this awesome animal welfare organization. Cottage Paws Rescue is a 100% VOLUNTEER-based organization in Muskoka. Each penny donated or fund raised goes directly to the care of the animals in need.
What drew me to this group, beyond just the sincere dedication to the well being of homeless pets, was the knowledge of animal health and welfare that founders Randi Gallant and Matthew O'Donnell show.
It takes more than just fostering animals who are looking for new homes. A responsible organization has veterinary support and is aware of the level of health issues an animal can sometimes have to overcome before being ready for a loving family.
Cottage Paws works with Washago Veterinary services to ensure their animals are completely fit and healthy. This is not cheap, but it is the right way to take care of animals that have often been abandoned or abused.
